01/12/2007 Individual selection day for the Wales Schools Debating Team The best debaters from the 2007 Wales Schools Debating Championships, organised by CEWC-Cymru, ill be brought together to select a small group of individuals to join the Wales Schools Debating Team to represent Wales at next years World Schools Debating Championships.

06/11/2007 Cardiff University Schools Competition The first of what we hope will be an annual opportunity for students in schools and tertiary colleges to compete in a debating competition organised by students from Cardiff University Debating Society.

18/04/2007 International Final of the ESU John Smith Memorial Mace King's Inns, Dublin. The Final between the winners of the English, Welsh, Scottish and Irish University championships.
17/02/2007 John Smith Memorial Welsh Mace 2007 The highlight of the Welsh Universities debating calender. Teams from Universities across Wales will compete for the chance to represent Wales in the International John Smith Memorial Final. The championships are sponsored by the English Speaking Union. This is the oldest University debating competition.

Following a day of debates involving 20 teams the top four teams will participate in the final.

The Final will be held at 7pm at the University of Glamorgan Business Centre. The event is open to the public and entry is free. Directions can be found at www.glam.ac.uk/visiting.

Last year 29 teams participated including South Africa, USA, Argentina, Australia, New Zealand, Slovakia, Slovenia, Germany, Canada, Singapore, Pakistan, Scotland, Ireland, England and Wales! The team representing Wales is selected through the Wales Schools Debating Championships. Previous hosts of the Championships include Singapore (2002), South Africa (2001), Pittsburgh, USA (2000) London (1999), Israel (1998) and Wales in 1995!

The final of the UK Universities Debating Championships between England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
Wales will be represented by Swansea University who won the John Smith memorial Welsh Mace on 17 November 2001. The Swansea Team consist of Bethan Thomas and Mike Scott.
